Social Services
Social Services have volunteers working in many different placements throughout North Ayrshire. Our volunteers enhance and complement the services provided by the Council to its customers.
Volunteers are given, where possible, placements which match their individual skills and experience. Volunteer duties will be reasonable and not excessive.
How much time will I be expected to give?
The hours committed to your voluntary work can be negotiated with the individual service. We aim to be as flexible as we can with volunteer hours.
North Ayrshire Council values and recognises the contribution of volunteers. Volunteers in turn are expected to be reliable and committed to the aims and values of the Council. Your interview will help to clarify if voluntary work is suitable for you.
Will I receive training?
All volunteers receive a welcome and basic induction in relation to their new placement. The Council aims to offer initial training and ongoing revision of your training needs. Your training should recognise your role and take in to account your previous experience.
How do I apply?
Telephone 01294 317757 for an application pack which contains further information about volunteering and what it involves.
What happens next?
Your application will be sent on to the appropriate Service Manager, who will arrange an interview date to discuss your offer of help. On successful completion of the interview an offer of placement will be made, subject to references and disclosure checks being made. Please allow 4-6 weeks for this to take place.
