Bus Passes for Disabled People

Transport Scotland is responsible for running the national concessionary travel scheme which provides free bus travel throughout Scotland for disabled people.

 

If you are disabled you are able to travel free on any local bus and scheduled long distance coach services in Scotland throughout the day - including the morning rush hour. For more information on how to apply for a Bus Pass, contact Transport Scotland

 

 

Who is eligible for concessionary travel?
You are eligible for concessionary travel if you are a resident of Scotland and: aged over 60; if you are blind or partially sighted; or if you are disabled.

Who is eligible for a Companion Travel Card?
Persons from the age of 5 years, whose mobility is such that they require to be accompanied when travelling, can apply for a Companion Card if the applicant is: in receipt of the higher or middle rate of the care component of DLA; in receipt of Attendance Allowance; certified blind and is on a register maintained by or on behalf of a council.

What else do I need to provide along with my application for a travel card?
Along with your completed application for a travel card, you should bring a passport sized photo, proof of age/disability and proof of address.

Can I use my travel card to travel on buses outside the local area?
Yes, you can use your Travel Card to travel free on scheduled long distance coach travel anywhere in Scotland.
