The North Ayrshire Violence Against Women Partnership has developed a strategy and action plan to address and prevent violence against women. This recognises that violence can happen to women regardless of their age, background, or race. It can include:
-
Physical, sexual and psychological violence, including domestic abuse, rape, incest and child sexual abuse
-
Sexual harassment and commercial sexual exploitation;
-
Forced marriages and honour crime
The Strategy sets out the key priorities for the Partnership in tackling violence against women through prevention, protection, provision and participation. It is accompanied by an action plan for 2010/13.

The Partnership supports the White Ribbon Campaign - an international drive to encourage men and boys to speak out about domestic violence.
This campaign encourages men to pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women. To find out more information about the campaign, or to pledge your support, visit the White Ribbon Scotland website.
The Partnership commissioned consultants to carry out research into the high levels of domestic abuse in North Ayrshire. The report on their findings was published in July 2009.
