Blue Bins
We are making improvements to the kerbside recycling service. From Monday 9 April 2012, residents will also be able to use the blue bin to recycle their glass and other types of plastic material including plastic bags, food and fruit trays, yoghurt pots and hard plastic such as small toys.
We give each household a free blue bin to recycle in. We take your blue bin to a recycling facility where the waste is sorted for recycling.
Your blue bin will be collected every two weeks and should be placed at the kerbside, with the lid closed, before 7.00am on your collection day.
To find out when your blue bin will be collected type your postcode the box below where you can also view and print your refuse collection calendar.
You can use our online facility to request an additional bin.
If you have a sack collection, then a yearly supply of clear sacks will be issued to you free of charge.
Patio houses and properties that have no storage for domestic bins will be given a years supply of sacks. Clear sacks for recycling and white sacks for residual waste will be issued. If you have a garden, we can also provide you with brown bio-degradable sacks for your garden waste These should be placed at an agreed location on your collection day before 7am.
If you have difficulty putting your grey, blue or black box out for collection you may be eligible to apply for an assisted pull out.

A-Z of what you can recycle
It's really important to make sure you put the correct things in your blue bin, as contamination can ruin a whole lorry load of material and instead of being sent for recycling would end up in landfill!
