Refuse Collection for Local Businesses

We provide a regular waste collection from local businesses. We operate a wheeled bin system for the collection of commercial trade refuse. Your company should have proper bins to provide adequate storage for your refuse.

What is not uplifted?
Cooking oil , Animal by-products, Asbestos, Poisonous, noxious, toxic or other hazardous material.

What do you need to do before the service begins?
Before the service starts you will need to: have a visit from a Council Officer to assess your requirements, complete and sign a Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note, complete and sign a Service Agreement, pay a financial sum to the Council calculated according to our scale of charges. The sum will be charged for a six month period and is payable in advance.

What arrangements should be made for containers?
Only wheeled containers of a style approved by us can only be used for the storage and presentation of commercial waste to be collected by the Council. Do not overfill containers (lid should be closed). Your company will be responsible for any repair, maintenance or renewal of containers including repair of normal wear and tear during the provision of the service. Where your company's own container is unfit or unsafe, we will notify you that the service will be suspended until your company makes suitable repairs or replaces the container. Your company is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting the Container, both internally and externally.

What arrangements should be made for access?
Access should be readily available to cleansing vehicles and operatives to enable them to uplift containers at the times and days of collection. This should include the unlocking of any gates or doors prior to collection. Do not block the pavement or roadway. If required a temporary "no parking – keep clear – refuse collection access" sign or similar deterrent should be displayed in a prominent position. We may make an extra charge to your company where access is not available and a return visit is required to complete the collection. Your company should maintain the vehicular access surface, container storage and loading route surfaces as a hard standing of good condition, free from ruts, potholes and other obstacles which may impede the safe movement of the collection vehicle and / or container. Your company shall indemnify the Council against any damage its collection vehicle may cause to property if the vehicle is required to enter to empty your companies container(s).

How do you terminate from this service?
If the you wish to withdraw from this agreement, you must give us one months notice in writing. In event of your company changing ownership it is the responsibility of the representative of the company whose signature appears on the Service Agreement or their successor to give the Council one month's notice of the date of changeover, and the name of the new owner. The company is liable for refuse collection charges until one month after we receive such notification. A new owner will be required to sign a new Service Agreement with us.If payment is not received for the refuse collection service within 6 weeks of the date of invoice, the service will be withdrawn forthwith. We have the right to recover any outstanding amount owed.
