Planning and Environment

The Council aims to provide a cleaner, greener and more attractive environment to live and work.

One of the ways we're doing this is to encourage re-cycling|.

Planning Services| aim to protect the built| and natural heritage |of North Ayrshire while guiding and supporting development. This is done through the policies in the development plan. The development plan acts as a framework for deciding Planning Applications|.

Planning Services also administer the Landfill Communities Fund. This allows the Council as a registered Landfill Operator to contribute some of its Landfill Tax towards environmental improvement projects.

Bids are now being invited for the current LCF round and these will be considered in the autumn of the year, most likely September 2010 and early submission is therefore recommended.

Landfill Funding must be spent in compliance with Entrust Regulations which set out specific criteria for projects, and the applicants need to be registered with Entrust as Environmental bodies (there is a cost involved in this).

Full details of the Landfill Communities Fund are available on www.entrust.org.uk|.  and details of how to apply are available by clicking on the following link. Landfill Communities Funding Guidance| (pdf 19KB).
