Allotments Policy

Budding gardeners across North Ayrshire can now get access to support to help their allotment projects flourish.

At its meeting held on 31 August 2010, the Executive of North Ayrshire Council approved the terms of an allotments policy (PDF 52Kb) which sets out the Council’s commitment to helping green-fingered locals who are keen to grown their own fruit and vegetables by assisting allotments associations get their projects off the ground.

The Allotment Policy aims to help local people to take forward developments themselves rather than the Council directly providing allotment sites.

As part of the new policy, an officer from the Council’s Environment and Related Services has been identified to act as point of contact for local people. He can help interested parties access help and advice on areas such as setting up a constituted allotment association, sources of funding, locations of suitable plots and how to development and manage land.

For further information and advice, contact the allotment liaison officer, named on the attached policy.
