Local residents are invited to meet the team who will be working on the first new council houses to be built in North Ayrshire for a generation.

Members of the public are invited to come along to Castlepark Community Centre on Wednesday 17 March to find out more about the Irvine development between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

The building phase of the £3m project starts on Monday 22 March and will see 23 new homes built on the site of the former Castlepark Primary School.

Managers from construction company, Cruden Building and Renewals Ltd, will be on hand to answer questions about the building phase. Architects, Robert Potter and Partners, and engineers Hodgins Smith Partnership will also be able to provide information on design, construction and layout.

The development will include a mix of two, three and four bedroom semi-detached, terraced and amenity bungalows.

These are the first local authority houses to be built in North Ayrshire since 1981 and are due to be completed by March 2011.
