Marymass Festival Traditions Day

The spectacular Marymass celebrations culminate in Traditions Day on Saturday.

Join the carnival atmosphere throughout Marymass Saturday as Scotland's largest horse-drawn procession parades through the streets of Irvine, bringing thousands along to witness the Crowning of the Marymass Queen.

The colourful, unique procession is cheered on by huge crowds as it makes its way to the heart of the festival at Irvine Moor. There you will find one of the world's oldest horse races, fairground entertainment, stalls and the legendary Greasy Pole – where enthusiastic teams attempt to clamber the famously slippy pole to retrieve the coveted ham.

Marymass Saturday runs from 9.30am to 6pm. The parade leaves Golffields Road at 9.30am and the Crowning of the Marymass Queen takes place at 12noon.
