Boost for Jobseekers
A series of Job Clubs aimed at helping jobseekers in their quest for work is heading for the Garnock Valley.
The informal drop-in sessions will be held on Friday mornings at libraries in Kilbirnie, Dalry and Beith over the next few months.
The Job Clubs are a partnership of North Ayrshire Library and Information Service, Community Learning and Development and CEiS Ayrshire, and have been specially designed to help jobseekers with advice on updating CVs, internet job searches, application forms and improving interview skills.
Area Librarian Eileen Vernon explained: "We ran a pilot in Largs last year and it was extremely successful. The first port of call for many people after visiting the local Jobcentre is the library, where we have a range of facilities such as free internet access in a relaxed and informal atmosphere."
Each Job Club will run for six weeks and sessions last for two hours from 10am –12noon.
The dates for the Job Clubs are:
-
Kilbirnie Library – Fridays from March 5 until April 16.
-
Dalry Library – Fridays from April 23 until May 28.
-
Beith Library – Fridays from June 4 until July 9.
Eileen added: "Everyone who drops in will have the chance of a one-to-one chat with our advisors from CLD and CEiS Ayrshire to assess what specific help would best benefit each individual.
"They can attend as often as they wish and for as long as they like during the six week periods. Simply receiving a bit of encouragement and advice can be just the boost people need to kick-start their journey back into employment."
