Final Weekend of the Largs Viking Festival

Join the final celebrations of the Largs Viking Festival, this weekend (Friday 2 to Sunday 4 September).

Savour the delights of the continental and farmer's market held everyday from 10am to 6pm. Come and see how the Vikings lived and learn how they made their clothes, weapons, jewellery and food at the authentic Viking Village from 11am to 5pm. Both of these events take place on Largs Promenade each day.

The explosive finale of the Largs Viking Festival is Party at the Pencil on Saturday 3 September from 7.30pm at the Pencil Monument.

The Party at the Pencil kicks off with a re-enactment of the 1263 Battle of Largs, where fierce Scottish and Norse warriors will take you back in time as they battle on the shores.

Watch in amazement as the ceremonial burning of a Viking Longship sees the vessel set ablaze by a firebrand arrow.

The event culminates at 9pm with a spectacular fireworks display, set against the dramatic backdrop of the Pencil Monument on the Clyde Estuary.

Party at the Pencil, organised by North Ayrshire Council, is a free event for the whole family to enjoy.

7.30pm: Battle re-enactment

8.30pm: Burning of the Longship

9pm: Fireworks display
