Our blue bin scheme is now operating in most towns and villages.
-
We now have almost 62,000 households participating in the scheme, and
-
Together with the ongoing kerbside collections for glass and garden waste, we are well on our way towards our 40% recycling target set for 2010.
The blue bin has enabled more materials than ever before to be recycled, with food tins, drinks cans, plastic bottles, tetra pak cartons, cardboard and paper now all accepted. If you have lost your calendar, no need to worry simply put your postcode into the search for your collection day.
Want to recycle your own garden waste?
The brown bin garden waste collections will be continuing up until 27 November this year, however brown bins are available to order now for collections beginning again next Spring. Please call 0845 603 0594 to order your bin.
This has meant many of you are turning your garden waste and food scraps into useable compost, - a perfect example of how to reduce waste and recycle from home. Bins can also be ordered by contacting 0845 076 0223.
Do you throw out too much food waste ?
