Irvine Beat FM returns to the airwaves
Irvine Beat FM returns to the airwaves next month – with a little help from North Ayrshire Council.
The radio station – which runs throughout the Marymass Festival – began broadcasting last August and proved so popular with listeners that it wasn't long until it was confirmed for 2010.
And with funding of £4000 from the Council's Community Development Grant Scheme, the station is set to become the sound of the summer once again – with interest from as far afield as Irvine, California.
Programmes begin at 1.05pm on August 1 and last for four weeks. Just tune in to 105.7FM if you are in the Irvine area.
The station is closely linked with the Marymass Festival, and broadcast programmes last August to tie in with Irvine's big event.
With regular broadcasts from the Marymass Queen and her Marys, the Captain of the Carters and Marymass Committee Chair, Councillor Ian Clarkson, the station plays a big part in keeping you up-to-date with festival news.
Councillor Clarkson said: "Irvine Beat FM gives us a great opportunity to publicise Marymass, as well as getting the thoughts of people in the community.
"The feedback from our appearances last year was good and we are delighted to accept the invitation to return this year.
"Irvine Beat FM is a Community Radio Station, and is managed and run by local volunteers, and that is what Marymass is all about. "
