Top award for Tournament Cafe
Our staff are celebrating after receiving healthy living accolades for Tournament Café.
To clinch the healthyliving award we had to show we were promoting healthier options over more stodgy or fatty contenders.
This involved displaying salad sandwiches more prominently than the more calorific options. All healthy options had also to be labelled and dishes containing oil-rich fish such as salmon, mackerel or sardines made readily available.
Catherine Nelson, General Manager, Environment and Related Services said: "We were delighted to receive the award but we're aware we can go even better by going for the Highly Commended version which asks for 70 per cent to fit the healthy option bill."
Claire Brown, project manager of the healthyliving award, said: "We're pleased to see North Ayrshire Council leading by example and responding to the growing consumer demand for healthier food options.
"It's a pleasure to be able to give the Council the recognition it so rightly deserves."
