The General Election to return an MP to represent the North Ayrshire and Arran Constituency officially started today (Wednesday 13 April) when Returning Officer Elma Murray took receipt of the Writ issued by the Queen instructing her to hold the election.
With the Notice of Election now published, nominations for any person wishing to stand will open from 10.00am on Wednesday 14 April.
Forms of nomination may be obtained from the Election Office, Third Floor, Cunninghame House, Irvine, between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
Nomination papers may be delivered by the candidate, his/her proposer or seconder or election agent (where appointed) to the Returning Officer at the above address between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday after the date of the Notice. They must be returned no later than 4.00pm on Tuesday 20 April 2010.
If the election is contested, the poll will take place between the hours of 7.00am and 10.00pm on Thursday 6 May 2010.
