Pupils across North Ayrshire are being urged to nominate their favourite teacher as the new school term begins.
Youngsters, who return to the classroom today (Tuesday, 17 August) following the summer break, are being given the chance to nominate their best teachers in the 2010 Community Awards.
The 2010 Community Awards, which aim to recognise local heroes from all across Ayrshire, are organised by radio station West FM and children's charity Cash for Kids.
Last year, Lesley Richardson, who teaches at Stanley Primary School in Ardrossan, was named Best Local Teacher in the 2009 Community Awards.
Nomination forms can be filled in online or dowloaded and posted to the station. The deadline for nominations is Sunday, 5 September and pupils can vote for their favourite teacher from Monday, 20 September.
The three Ayrshire teachers with the most votes will be invited to the awards ceremony at Ayr Racecourse on Thursday, 7 October when the winner will be announced.
