Services A to Z:

Permission to Film and Photograph

The Council welcomes film, television and photographic companies who wish to film or photograph in and around the local area. We will provide help and assistance.

It is essential that permission is obtained from the Council before filming or photography begins.

How to obtain permission

All requests for permission for filming on and in Council land and buildings should be made to the Communications Service for consideration.

The enquiry is then referred to the Estates Section to carry out necessary Council Service consultations and to provide the enquirer with details of both the Scale of Charges and the type of agreement to be entered into.

All enquiries should be advised that at least 10 working days notice prior to the date of filming is required for said consultations to be carried out.

Charges will be levied in respect of the use of Council-owned buildings only with the Scale of Charges as follows:

  • £500 for a full day's interior filming
  • £250 for a half day's interior filming
  • £250 for a full day's exterior filming

There will be no rental charge for the use of Council land on a short-term basis, although a charge will be levied in respect of temporary arrangements including:

  • Fencing
  • Coning
  • Litter pick-up

In addition, an Estates Administration charge of £150 will be levied. The charges referred to will be subject to periodic review.
