Public Processions, Parades and Marches
Public Processions, Marches and Parades are all licensed by the local authority who work closely with Strathclyde Police to ensure that these events are organised in a safe manner and case minimal disruption and inconvenience.
The Act requires that at least 28 days notice of an intention to march be given to the local authority. Organisers are encouraged to give as much notice of an intention to march as possible.
Any person or organisation wishing to parade within North Ayrshire can apply for permission from the local authority.

Completed application forms should also be sent to the contact details at the right of this page. The application form should be accompanied by the appropriate documentation.
The application is sent to Strathclyde Police and the Council's Roads Department for their comments. Strathclyde Police will contact the organiser directly to discuss and agree the route before submitting their report to the Licensing Office.
The application is also advertised on the Council's website for any member of the public to object to the parade if they wish.
Once all reports are back and there are no objections or representations the permission to march will be issued.
It is in the public interest that North Ayrshire Council must process your application before it can be granted. If you have not heard from the Licensing Office within a reasonable period, please contact us. You can do this using the contact details to the right of this page.

There is no fee payable for a Public Procession, Parade or March
