Indoor Sports Licence
A licence is required for any premises to which the public are admitted as spectators at any sporting event taking place there. A licence may cover all or any part of premises where such an event or events take place.
This Act defines a "sporting event" in the widest terms and includes contest sports involving teams or individuals as well as sporting exhibitions or displays where the participants engage in a competitive or non competitive sport, game or other form of physical recreation or activity.
The reference to "sport" is also widely defined but the term does not include dance events of any kind.

Completed application forms should also be sent to the contact details at the right of this page. The application form should be accompanied by the non refundable fee.
On receipt of the completed documents, the application will be circulated to all consultees listed on the front of the form and some of the consultees will carry out an inspection of the premises (if applicable). It will also be advertised on the Council's website to allow for members of the public to lodge any objections or representations to the issue of the licence.
If there are no objections, the licence will be issued for a period of 3 years from the date of issue.

Please note that the application process may take up to 8 weeks.
For 2010/2011 the fees for Indoor Sport licences are as follows:

Indoor Sports Entertainment licence (no other licence) £300

Indoor Sports Entertainment licence (other NAC licence) £150

Indoor Sports Entertainment licence (temporary event) £600
These fees are subject to annual review.
The fee is not returnable if you decide to withdraw the application or if the licence is refused.
