Sheltered Housing - Non Council Tenants

To get onto our waiting list for Sheltered/Amenity housing you must be 60 years old or over before you will be considered for this type of housing.

We have two types of Sheltered/Amenity homes:

  • Amenity or adapted homes - usually bungalows or flats which have special features like as ramps or grab-rails.
  • Sheltered housing. These are groups of self-contained homes which have additional laundry areas and shared common rooms. Each home is connected to our Community Alarm Service

You will need to complete a Housing application form [Pdf 2.09Mb] to apply for this type of accommodation. If your current home is not suitable due to a medical condition you should also complete part one and part 2 of the Medical Priority Application.|[Pdf 2.46Mb] part 2|

You will be visited within 6 weeks of your application being returned to the Area Housing Office |by a Housing Officer who will complete a Sheltered Assessment. This assessment allows us to assess your need and allocate properties accordingly.
