Support to Tenants
Supporting People helps you to:
-
live more independently in your own home
-
be treated as a person with choices and rights
-
work with your support provider to agree where, when and how you receive housing support and feel safe in your own home.
Housing support is a plan agreed between you and your support worker to help set up and maintain your own home. It can help you to:
-
keep yourself and your home safe
-
develop domestic or social skills; and
-
develop the skills needed to manage your finances
These services are available to you if you need some practical support to set up and keep your home. It doesn't matter whether you live in a flat, house, sheltered-housing complex or a hostel.
You can get support if
-
you live on your own or share a tenancy
-
if you own your home or rent from a landlord
-
You might be elderly, have learning disabilities, be homeless or have mental-health issues.
These are just a few of the situations where you might benefit from housing support.

Supporting People is a flexible service. If you move home, your housing support can move with you. It can also change to suit your needs. If you feel that you no longer need as much support, you can talk to your care manager or service provider about reducing or stopping the service. You can receive housing support at the same time as other care, health and support services.
If you are unhappy with your service you should contact your service provider's main office to make a complaint. Your care provider should tell you about their complaints procedure at the start of your service.
Or, you can speak to your care manager or the Care Commission.
If you are already receiving a housing support service, this will not change unless you ask for it to change.
The team has contracts with organisations including contracts within the Council to deliver a variety services.
