North Ayrshire's Scheme of Assistance

A Scheme of Assistance provides details of advice and assistance that will be delivered to people living in the private sector. Its purpose is to help home owners, landlords and private tenants to repair, maintain, improve or adapt their homes.

The Scheme has two main aims:

  1. To help older people and people with disabilities, who are living in the private sector, to make adaptations which allow them to live in their home for as long as they choose to do so.
  2. To address disrepair in private sector homes by encouraging home owners to recognise that they have the main responsibility for maintaining their homes

The Scheme of Assistance is designed to be fair, sustainable and transparent in meeting these aims by offering a range of services to support owners of private sector properties.

The Scheme of Assistance is provided through the Private Sector Advice Service who can be contacted on (01294) 324644 or by emailing psadvice@north-ayrshire.gov.uk

Consultation on Full Scheme of Assistance

The Council is currently developing a Full Scheme of Assistance  (PDF 367Kb) and carried out consultation until 25th November 2011.  The feedback and suggestions received will be used to inform the final version of the Scheme of Assistance and is expected to be published in Spring 2012.

Currently North Ayrshire Council operates an Interim Scheme of Assistance (PDF 872Kb) which covers the range of support that is available to individuals.  The Interim Scheme was made available on the Council's website and encouraged public feedback until 3rd December 2010.
