What is a housing association?
A housing association is an independent 'not for profit' organisation that provides affordable rented housing for people in housing need. Housing Associations are also know as Registered Social Landlords (RSLs). They are required to register with the Scottish Housing Regulator under the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001.
Which housing associations have houses in North Ayrshire?
There are ten housing associations operating in North Ayrshire. The three locally-based associations Cunninghame Housing Association, Irvine Housing Association and ANCHO are full partners of the common housing register known as the North Ayrshire Housing Register (NAHR). You can apply for housing with these associations and with North Ayrshire Council when you fill in and submit a NAHR application for housing.
The non-NAHR associations listed below all have their own housing registers and let half their empty houses to applicants on their own register and half to applicants on the NAHR. You can contact any of these associations and apply for housing directly with them.
