Sheltered Housing
To get onto our waiting list for Sheltered/Amenity housing you must be 60 years old or over before you will be considered for this type of housing. If you are homeless and don't meet this criteria the Homelessness Assessment Prevention and Advice Service may be able to help you.
We have two types of Sheltered/Amenity homes:
-
Amenity or adapted homes - usually bungalows or flats which have special features like as ramps or grabrails.
-
Sheltered housing. These are groups of self-contained homes which have additional laundry areas and shared common rooms. Each home is connected to our Community Alarm Service
All tenants in sheltered schemes can call on the services of a Warden.
You will need to complete a Housing Application Form (PDF 2.46kb) to apply for this type of accommodation. If your current home is not suitable due to a medical condition you should also complete a Medical Priority Application (PDF 44kb)
You will be visited within 6 weeks of your application being returned to the Area Housing Office by a Housing Officer who will complete a Sheltered Assessment. This assessment allows us to assess your need and allocate properties accordingly.
