The redevelopment of Vineburgh is a 6 year, £37 million project to tackle the high level of deprivation and low demand in the area.

The regeneration of Vineburgh took another step forward on 27th June 2007 when the Council formally adopted the Vineburgh Regeneration 'Masterplan', which details the vision for the new Vineburgh.

A total of 306 properties will be demolished in Fleming Terrace, Meadow Avenue, Old Caley Road, Queen Road and parts of Vineburgh Avenue and Wallace Road and the Masterplan will guide the redevelopment of the area.

Community and stakeholder consultation played a key role in deciding the Masterplan's main themes of:

· Sustainability

· Adaptability

· Variety

· Accessibility and Integration

· Design Quality

· Safety and Security

The redevelopment of Vineburgh will:

· achieve high design quality to create homes and spaces which are desirable

· introduce planting and trees to transform the character of the area

· change perceptions of the area

All homes will have high levels of insulation, making them more energy efficient and more economical to heat.

There will be a broad range of house types, which will meet current and future needs; for example 10% of new houses will be adapted for wheelchair use.

During community consultation it was emphasised that the bus route is extremely important to local residents, therefore, we will work to ensure that it remains.

The design and layout of the new Vineburgh will make it safer and more secure for everyone living in the area and will help to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.

Cunninghame Housing Association in association with MAST architects have carried out extensive community consultation, and have now been granted planning permission for the redevelopment of Phase 1 of the Vineburgh Project.
