Council Housing Improvement Strategy
Our local housing strategy identifies the housing issues affecting our local communities. It has an Action Plan for tackling these which covers the period 2005 to 2010.
Our strategy provides us and our partners with a framework for working together. It will help to make all local communities in North Ayrshire a place where everyone can enjoy affordable good quality housing in a pleasant and safe environment.
The key housing issues that need to be tackled over the next decade. Are set out below:
-
Responding to the needs of local communities
-
Help rural communities
-
Help to improve low demand areas
-
Building what people want
-
Providing good quality
-
Delivering housing and support that meets the needs of households with particular needs
-
Tackling rising number of homeless
-
Provide for the future to meet the long term demand for social housing
-
Attract key workers
-
Thinking beyond housing – look at benefit dependency, poor employment
opportunities, alcohol and substance abuse, and Antisocial Behaviour.
