Exclusion from school

Head Teachers must only consider excluding a pupil from school when all other measures have been tried and have failed or in cases of very serious indiscipline.

Exclusion is seen as a last resort and Head Teachers are aware that they might be required to justify such an action in a court of law. Exclusion must also be proportionate in the light of the circumstances of each case.
