School Rationalisation Proposals
As a result of falling school rolls and low occupancy, North Ayrshire Council is reviewing its school estate.
Irvine East
The combined occupancy of Broomlands, Fencedyke and Towerlands Primary Schools is now 47% and in view of this, the Council is considering proposals to close these schools and establish a new primary school to cover the catchment areas from August 2014
Before any decision is made, however, we would like your feedback |on proposals on future primary education provision.
Consultation will take place with those affected from 16 August 2010 until noon on 1 October 2010. Your feedback is important to us and we appreciate you taking the time to read the attached document and responding to us.

Irvine West
The occupancy level at John Galt Primary School in Irvine is 25% and in view of this, the Council is considering proposals to close John Galt Primary and transfer pupils to Castlepark, Woodlands and Annick Primary Schools from August 2013.

Education in North Ayrshire
Working with our partners, we want to encourage learning for people throughout their lives.
Our nursery, primary, secondary and additional support needs schools|, with the Arran Outdoor Education Centre |provide our pupils with a full and flexible curriculum.
Our Literacies Team assist adults who have difficulties with reading, writing and numbers.
All North Ayrshire libraries| provide free Internet access and offer a variety of informal learning and courses.
We have two further education colleges - Kilmarnock College |and James Watt College |where you can access full and part time classes. The nearby University of the West of Scotland |has a campus nearby in Ayr.
We encourage people to gain new skills through community involvement and volunteering|.
Careers Scotland| provides people of all ages with advice on the steps to take to find the right course to meet their skills and interests.
