Brief information on the courses are listed below:

 

Personal Empowerment - these workshops can help build your confidence and personal/social awareness through discussion and reflection.  Topics include:

  • recognising strengths and skills
  • reflecting on values and perceptions
  • identifying responsibilities
  • fears
  • barriers
  • motivation
  • planning ahead

Communication Skills - these workshops provide support for the development of effective listening and speaking skills, especially for interviews and presentations.  Topics include:

  • confident speaking
  • language
  • improving concentration
  • coping with nerves

Literacy Skills - these workshops are taught by experienced literacy tutors and aim to help you brush up on your writing skills.  Areas covered include:

  • spelling
  • punctuation
  • grammar
  • layout
  • presentation

All levels are welcome.  Support is flexible to individual needs.  Reading and numeracy support also available on request.

 

Computing Taster - if you are new to computers and the internet, or you do not feel confident in using them, these workshops could help.  Support is available for:

  • word processing
  • introduction to PowerPoint
  • using CV and letter writing templates
  • setting up an email address
  • online job searching
  • online applications
  • progression to further computing courses optional
  • Communication Skills
  • Literacy and Numeracy
  • Computing
