North Ayrshire Council

Services A to Z:

Straight Talking

Representatives from local organisations were invited to take part in a series of 'Straight Talking' sessions across North Ayrshire in October and November 2010.

The sessions allowed us to meet with local groups and volunteers to listen to their views on how we might address the financial challenges which lie ahead, while still ensuring that priority services are delivered as effectively as possible.

Senior Council officers gave an outline of the current and expected financial outlook for the Council at each of the 'Straight Talking' sessions which took place in Ardrossan, Arran, Irvine, Largs and Kilbirnie - as well as discussing future service delivery.

Delegates then attended one of five workshops for more detailed discussions on specific topics:

  • Environment and public spaces
  • Independent living for older people
  • Community services, libraries and museums
  • Prevention and health inequalities
  • Education 3 –18 years
