Council Vacancies

All North Ayrshire Council vacancies are accessible through our own recruitment website.  This is part of the national recruitment portal, myjobscotland.

The portal allows Scottish local authorities to advertise jobs on one website with the aim of attracting a wider range of job applicants, reducing advertising expense and improve efficiently and productivity. This has been developed by the Improvement Service working with COSLA, for use by all Scottish local authorities.

You are able to create your own account and to save your job applications. Letters will be e-mailed to you rather than posted. You can set up e-mail alerts when vacancies arise, which match your specified criteria.

Technical difficulties

If you have any technical problems with the myjobscotland website then please contact myjobscotland@cosla.gov.uk for support as the recruitment website is not maintained by North Ayrshire Council. COSLA will respond to you as soon as possible during business hours (Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm). Please note there is no support outwith these office hours. If you are applying for a position please leave plenty of time before the closing date in case you encounter any difficulties.

Would I still be able to get a job at the council if I have a conviction?
The Council has a Disclosure Policy which outlines the Councils responsibility in ensuring that vulnerable client groups are protected whilst at the same time ensuring there is no discrimination against individuals when they are applying for posts within the authority. In general, the Council will seek a Disclosure where there is access to vulnerable adults or young people through the appointment or where the post is in a position of trust as defined in the Act. These are appointments in respect of which the Council would wish to ask exempt questions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA). Where a Disclosure is deemed necessary for a position, it will be made clear in all relevant documentation that a Disclosure will be requested in the event that an individual is made a conditional offer of the position.

Will my job application form be accepted if it is after the closing date?
Late applications will not be considered.

Where do I send my completed application form?
Each vacancy page displays relevant information on where to send your application form.

Under what circumstances are Disclosure Scotland checks carried out for positions advertised with the Council?
Disclosure Scotland checks are undertaken for all posts that are going to be working with children and other vulnerable groups of people such as the elderly and disabled clients.

Can I submit my CV instead of the application form?
If we have an application form for the position, then you must fill it out in its entirety. CVs will sometimes be accepted as a supplement to a completed application form. Please state the reference number of the vacancy on your CV.
