Council Departments
North Ayrshire Council's job is to ensure our area is a great place to work, live, visit and invest in. By working closely with our partners, we deliver a huge range of local services ranging from education, social care and housing, to libraries, refuse collection and benefits.
North Ayrshire Council employs around 7,000 staff across all these sectors. The council's most senior official is the Chief Executive, Elma Murray, who, along with the Corporate Management Team, oversees the delivery of all of our services.
The Council is divided into three core directorates - Education and Skills, Social Services and Health, and Finance and Infrastructure – each of which is led by a Corporate Director, supported by Heads of Services.
Corporate Services, led by the Solicitor to the Council, supports the Chief Executive and the Council's three directorates.
