Information on civil naming ceremonies in North Ayrshire
A naming ceremony is a special way of welcoming a child into the family and community. It is a special occasion for parents, family and friends to offer their love and support for a child. It creates a bond between all those who take part.
Naming ceremonies can be conducted for children of any age. Children over the age of 10 years must give their written permission.
Viewing the ceremony rooms
You can view any of our ceremony rooms before you book your naming ceremony. Contact staff at the local Registration Office.
If you are having a naming ceremony in an approved venue please contact staff there to view their accommodation.
Arranging the date and time
Try to make early arrangements for the date and time of the ceremony. This is particularly importantat some of the more popular locations. Large numbers of people might want to book their ceremony at popular times of the year.
Documents required
A birth certificate must be produced for the child/children involved in the naming ceremony.
Availability
Ceremonies are conducted every day of the year except 25th, 26th December and 1st, 2nd January. Morning, afternoon and early evening appointments are available.
Fees
All naming ceremonies are subject to a non-refundable booking fee of £55. This is not an additional charge and will be deducted from the final account. Fees are reviewed on an annual basis by North Ayrshire Council. Current fees are shown below.
