Civil Partnerships
You can choose to have a Civil Partnership Registration (signing the Civil Partnership Schedule along with your witnesses and your Registrar). Alternatively you may wish to have a Civil Partnership Ceremony which is more extensive.
The format of your civil partnership ceremony:
-
The Registrar will introduce herself and welcome everyone present.
-
The Registrar will then explain a little bit about the concept of Civil Partnership.
-
You will then be asked to make your solemn promise to each other. (If you would like to write your own personal promises, your Registrar will be happy to help you do so).
-
You can then exchange rings or gifts if you wish to do so.
-
You will then be asked to sign the Civil Partnership Schedule along with both your witnesses and your Registrar. This is the moment your Civil Partnership is established.
-
Your Registrar will then pronounce you Registered Civil Partners.
-
After the photo opportunity following the pronouncement, the Registrar will then conclude your ceremony and introduce you, the happy couple, to your family and friends.
-
You may wish to personalise your ceremony or include a reading.

Poem of the month
When the one whose hand you're holding
Is the one who holds your heart
When the one whose eyes you gaze into
Gives your hopes and dreams their start.
When the one you think of first and last
Is the one who holds you tight
And the things you plan together
Makes the whole world seem just right.
When the one whom you believe in
Puts their faith and trust in you
You've found the one and only love
You'll share your whole life through.
