North Ayrshire Outdoor Access Forum

 The Forum's functions are:

• To advise on the exercise of access rights and the development of the core path plan
• To offer assistance in disputes about access rights

The Forum brings together all parties with an interest in developing and managing access to advise the Local Authority with their work on access and paths projects. It provides a mechanism to influence the future of access in North Ayrshire.

The Forum is composed of persons appointed by the local authority, to ensure a reasonable balance of:

• Communities - Community Councils, voluntary services, amenity groups
• Land owners/managers - individual owners, Water Board and the Forestry Commission
• Access Users - walkers, cyclists, canoeists, horse-riders
• Agencies - Local Health Board, Local Tourist Boards

 

The Statutory Forum meets on a quarterly basis and the main Forum meets on an annual basis to provide a platform for discussion and sharing good practice.
