The Arran Outdoor Education Centre and Cloudbase
The first thing you can expect when visiting our centre is a warm welcome and a friendly smile.
Our centre is large, contemporary and purpose built for outdoor education. We have the main centre in Lamlash and our mountain encampment outside Whiting Bay called Cloudbase.
Our main centre has:

40 beds all en-suite,

a state of the art classroom equipped with all the latest technologies,

a dining room where you can sit down to delicious home cooked meals,

a library which gives a quite place for reflection with stunning views of Holy Isle and

a comfortable students lounge.
We have dedicated changing, drying and storage areas, first class disabled facilities such as hoists, disabled showers and all terrain wheelchairs. Together with a full range of specialist equipment and clothing your stay here will be a memorable one.
Cloud Base is a magical place where you discover new experiences. Located high in remote forest, it's reminiscent of a camp in the Canadian Rockies. It has 5 timber cabins. The nearest village, Whiting Bay, is over an hour away.
Located high in the forestry and remote from all services and habitation, Cloud Base is unique on Arran. Cloud Base is powered entirely from natural resources such as Wind Generators and Solar Panels
With no light pollution, it often sits under a canopy of stars and when there's a full moon you don't even have to use torch.
Whilst resident at Cloud Base, the Instructional Staff| endeavour to provide the opportunity to understand remote living and the need for the preservation of the natural environment.
