Earth_Large The GLOBE Programme| is an international environmental education project, that encourages children in schools to explore and measure their local areas, and report their findings over the internet.  

 

The programme covers several distinct areas:

  • Weather and climate
  • Hydrology
  • Land cover and biology
  • Soils
  • Sustainable Development (a GLOBE-UK initiative)

 

Students collect their data - using standardised procedures - then enter it all over the Internet on simple on-line forms.  Then GLOBE uses their data to provide free images, maps and graphs on the state of the planet.  All raw data can also be downloaded compare and contrast local environments.
