Gorge Walking

GorgeWalking_LargeGorge-walking is one of the latest adventure sports, only started less than 10 years ago. It is a smaller scale version of the longer-established canyoning, but is better suited to the gentler scenery of the British Mountains. It was developed at first in Wales but is now also available in Scotland through the Arran Outdoor Education Resource.

When you gorge-walk you follow a stream or small river, not its general course, but the actual flow of the water.

The exploration of a stream-bed can provide a number of experiences from the challenge of just trying to stay dry - to the observation of beautiful pools and waterfalls.

The Resource has assessed and designed a traverse of the Glenashedale stream-bed which leads to the foot of the magnificent Glenashedale Falls. It is great fun and spectacular.
