Abseiling and Rock Climbing

Abseiling takes place at the Blue Rocks at Sannox (N.E. Arran). A special system designed for the Resource by our Technical Expert is used to provide this activity.

 

It is the aim of the Resource to provide this activity in a mountaineering context so that participants understand fully the dangers involved.

 

Participants are given instruction on how to:

  • Adjust and don a climbing harness.
  • Adjust and don a Climbing Helmet.
  • Operate a Screw Gate Karabiner.
  • Tie a Figure of eight knot.
  • Attach themselves to a static fixed line.
  • Use the Figure of 8 descender.

Equipment & Safety 
All the climbing equipment is UIAA| approved and the ropes, slings, and karabiners used are reserved for this activity only.


The Resource Staff are site specific trained for the provision of this activity.
