Translating and Interpreting Services
The Council can provide translation and interpreting services if you need support in contacting our services. This can be arranged if English is not your first language or if you would like support from a sign language interpreter.
The service can be arranged by visiting the offices of Council service you require to let us know which language you require. Alternatively, you can ask someone to telephone the Council to let us know in English of the language you need and we will make this arrangement.
It may not always be possible to provide an interpreter immediately. The Council uses a company based in Glasgow for its interpreting and translation services.
If an interpreter in the language required is not available at the time, an appointment will be made which is suitable to you for an interpreter to be provided. Interpreting services be provided at our offices either over the telephone or in person.
This free and confidential service is available in over 100 languages. A similar interpreting service for sign language users is also available, as well as translation into braille and lip reading services.
