Trading Standards - Under Age Sales
We enforce various pieces of age-restricted sales legislation. Preventing under-age sales has become an important part of our role in recent years, and is an area where we can contribute to the quality of life experienced in North Ayrshire.
Legislation prohibits the sale of tobacco products, butane lighter refills and fireworks to any person under the age of 18. It also regulated is the supply of age-restricted CDs, video games and spray paint. We participate in regular test purchasing of tobacco products and work with the police to deal with under-age alcohol sales.
