Local Development Plan
The Scottish Government has introduced a new planning system. This means that we must now prepare a new style plan. It will be called the "Local Development Plan" (LDP) and will replace the existing Structure and Local Plans.|
A Development Plan Scheme| (PDF, 5.93MB) was published last year outlining the key stages of preparing the LDP and a timetable for these stages. This has been reviewed and now includes a progress report.
The first key stage is the Main Issues Report (MIR), and this was presented to the Local Development Plan Committee |for their approval on 9th November.
Main Issues Report (MIR)
The consultation period for the MIR ran from 22nd January to 19th March 2010. A wide range of comments and submissions have been received. These will be carefully considered, and will inform the preparation of the Proposed Plan which is due for publication in December 2010. Notes from the Planning Forums| held in this period are available.
The Main Issues Report, Sustainability Report (Environment, Economic & Social) Monitoring Statement and Background Reports are available to view below, and are also available to purchase in paper format.

Planning Forums
During the consultation period, five Planning Forums were held across North Ayrshire to engage with the general public, local businesses, developers, community organisations and other agencies. The purpose of the event was to explore the Main Issues Report, and obtain participant's feedback on the various options set out in the document. The events were well attended, with some 200 people attending across the five events. A summary of the debate from each Planning Forum can be accessed using the following links:
