Local Development Plan Preparation
The Scottish Government has introduced a new planning system. A new style of development plan for North Ayrshire is being prepared called the Local Development Plan (LDP). It will replace the existing Structure and Local Plans. and will encompass mainland North Ayrshire and the islands of Arran and the Cumbraes.
A Development Plan Scheme (PDF 2.71Mb) outlines the key stages of preparing the LDP. This was reviewed in September 2011 and includes a progress report.

Latest News – April 23 2012
At a meeting of North Ayrshire Council on 4th April, the decision was taken to delay the publication of the Modified Plan to allow further clarification to be sought in respect of detailed flood risk information on two housing allocations (Noddsdale Meadow, Largs and Brisbane Glen Road, Largs).
Following the resolution of the above issues the new administration will address the progression and publication of the Modified Plan accordingly.
The anticipated date of publication is August 2012 with the consultation period to follow thereafter. Details will be provided on how you can view the Modified Plan and make comment in due course. If you have already made a comment on the Plan, there will be no need to resubmit this.
The Development Plan Scheme will be updated to reflect the current position soon.

Examination
The Council response to all objections (to those already made and to any new objections to the Modified Plan) will be submitted to the Scottish Government who will then appoint an independent Reporter to examine the issues and make determinations on whether the Plan should be changed. The determinations made are binding on the Council.

The consultation period for the MIR ran from 22nd January to 19th March 2010. A wide range of comments and submissions were received and these have informed the preparation of the Proposed Plan.
